Kottke-Cleland Program
Kottke-Cleland is a meats trading program managed by Randall Cleland. The products traded in the program are all within the CME meats complex.
In implementing the Program, the Mr. Cleland draws upon his judgment and trading experience as well as his knowledge of fundamental and technical factors affecting various commodity markets. Mr. Cleland's past experience includes serving as Trading Manager and Staff Economist with Sara Lee, where his duties included negotiating purchases of pork, beef, and poultry for national brands like Sara Lee, Hillshire Farm, Jimmy Dean, and Ball Park.
The Kottke-Cleland Program attempts to identify optimal trading opportunities, primarily by observing spreads within a particular market. Mr. Cleland believes that the spread markets provide numerous trading opportunities as speculators, hedgers, and commercial interests move commodity positions from one contract month, commodity, or commodity class to another, and that studying and investing in such spreads, and certain outright positions, can generate substantial profits with acceptable risks.
The Program’s annual return objectives are 25-35%, with targeted annual drawdowns of no more than 15-20%. However, there is no assurance that the Program will achieve these objectives or that clients will avoid substantial losses.
